Leslie Gabaldon

Type: Photographer
Born: Venezuela 1964
Works in Miami, FL.
She attended The New England School of Art & Design in Boston, MA and The Art Students League of NY.  She has focused her attention in new media since 1988, being among the first artist in USA to experiment with computer-generated work. (Sygraph 1990 Boston, MA). Naturally, her tendencies towards alternate mediums eventually lead on to embrace photography as the foundation of her work. Her ideas breed from concepts of sociological memory, especially in female issues in the contemporary world (she often incorporates toys as elements of nostalgia). GabaldonÕs curiosity for words not only as a mean to communicate ideas but as aesthetics elements shows throughout her body of work. She exquisitely merges image and text as visual poetry. Her body of work ÒInk on RosesÓ* was successfully received in ArteBa (Buenos Aires), Artbo (Bogota) and Art Miami.

In 2007 she was awarded with the Altos de Chavon (Parsons School of Design) artist in residency 3 months program in Dominican Republic. She has shown her work in New York, Miami, Colombia, Argentina, Dominican Republic and Shanghai.
